Confirmation in the Diocese of Baton Rouge is normally received in the eleventh grade year of high school. Candidates for Confirmation are required to undergo a period of catechesis and preparation before this occurs. This is integrated within our Parish School of Religion for children.
Students of our interparochial school, Catholic of Pointe Coupée, do indeed receive formation in their respective religion classes, but they also participate in orientation at St. Mary of False River to prepare them for the celebration of Confirmation in their parish church.
If you are an adult seeking the Sacrament of Confirmation, a meeting with the pastor will help to determine your readiness. Confirmation usually takes place on the Feast of Pentecost at St. Joseph Cathedral in Baton Rouge with the bishop or the pastor can request delegation to celebrate the Sacrament at St. Mary's.
